The Grand Rapids Water Lantern Festival, Walker, MI

About Page Challenge. In my last blog post, I mentioned that my art pod group was participating in a competition to create an About Page for our websites (you can see mine by clicking on the “About the Artist” link at the top of this screen). While we believe we all did a phenomenal job, we unfortunately did not win this month’s challenge. Which is absolutely okay (we can’t win EVERY time can we?). However, we did get a huge piece to the identity of our businesses completed which was really the reason for the challenge.

October’s Challenge. September does not have a challenge, however, October’s challenge has already been announced. Each person in our pod will have to create a Press Pack that can be used to send to various media markets. I’ll be starting on mine in the next couple weeks.

2025 Art Fairs. I’ve been doing a lot of research on art fairs, festivals and craft shows for 2025. There are so many to participate in there is no way one vendor could hit them all. I’ve recruited my daughter’s help in running the shows and she’ll be entering her own artwork for sale as well. A family event! I will ensure we let you know which ones we will be participating in, so you can stop by our booth and say hi! There is quite a bit of prep and purchasing that has to take place beforehand (who knew a booth was so expensive!) in order to have everything we’ll need to ensure a successful set up. So, I’m slowly purchasing those items and squirreling them away for next year.

Grand Rapids Water Lantern Festival. If you receive my emails, you’ll have seen one go out about The Grand Rapids Water Lantern Festival my kids and I participated in this past weekend. In memory of my dad, we decorated water lanterns and floated them on the lake at Millennium Park in Walker, MI. The lanterns are fully biodegradable, however, are policed up by event staff at the end of the event for reuse at a future event. It was a relaxing evening of reconnecting and remembering the man who touched our lives in profound ways.
